Sontara FS Foodservice Towels by DuPont Deliver Superior Cleaning Options

OLD HICKORY, Tenn. – DuPont/Sontara® . All three of the specially engineered towels are designed to perform specific job duties in both the eating and food prep areas.

Because clean surface areas are one of the keys to preventing foodborne illnesses or the spread of bacteria, Sontara FS Service and Multi-Purpose towels have been constructed with fibers that give them the durability to be used with harsh cleaning solvents, with fewer fibers left behind after wiping. The towels are super absorbent, holding up to six times their weight in liquid, making large food and liquid spills a quicker and more thorough cleanup.

"Our research has repeatedly shown that food safety practices are top priority for foodservice operators. The solution, then, was for DuPont to develop foodservice towels with the right attributes to help with those efforts," said Audrey L. Ramsey, DuPont market manager for Sontara FS products.

According to Ramsey, it's DuPont's unique hydroentangling technology that makes Sontara FS foodservice towels so effective for surface cleaning. The process uses thousands of needle-like jets of water to entangle the fibers into a strong, low-linting fabric. "Even after repeated washings, the towels maintain their soft feel and fresh, clean appearance," added Ramsey.

The newest member to the Sontara FS family of towels is the patented Chef Towel -- an economical alternative to cotton because of its exceptional strength, absorbency and launderable features.

Made with two layers of Sontara spunlaced woodpulp/polyester fabric stitch-bonded with nylon, the Chef Towel can handle tough cleaning jobs like scrubbing appliances found in food prep areas or tackling large food and liquid spills.

The Sontara FS Chef Towel stays strong and absorbent even after extended exposure to bleach and other sanitizers. In fact, laboratory tests show that the Chef Towel stays stronger in bleach than the leading herringbone cotton towels, and maintains its soft, clean appearance despite repeated launderings.

"Although it's inexpensive enough to be disposable, the Chef Towel can stand up to repeated washings," says Ramsey, "And they're nearly twice as absorbent as cotton towels. Now that's performance food service operators can count on."
