Restaurants & Institutions Magazine Honors Chick-fil-A With Prestigious Consumers' Choice In Chains Award

Chain Receives Award for Seventh Consecutive Year

Atlanta - Restaurants & Institutions, a foodservice industry publication, has named Atlanta-based chicken restaurant chain Chick-fil-A, Inc. the first-place platinum winner in the Chicken Category of the 25th annual Restaurants & Institutions Consumers' Choice in Chains Award. This marks the 11th time, including the past seven consecutive years, Chick-fil-A has received the prestigious Choice in Chains award over the past 12 years.

The Choice in Chains awards are presented as a result of a national survey of more than 3,200 consumers across the country who are asked to rate their favorite restaurants by food category. As one of the largest consumer polls in the country, the exclusive survey rated 200 chains on eight important attributes of guest satisfaction. Scores for each attribute -- food quality, service, convenience, cleanliness, value, atmosphere, menu variety and reputation -- were then weighed to create an overall score. The survey is conducted by Reed Research Group.

"Winning the Choice in Chains award again is especially meaningful because it is voted on by the people who patronize our restaurants," said Dan Cathy, president and chief operating officer of Chick-fil-A. "This award is a credit to our system of Chick-fil-A restaurant Operators and their 40,000-plus employees who work as a team to satisfy our customers everyday while making raving fans at the counter for the Chick-fil-A brand."

In addition to the Choice in Chains recognition, Chick-fil-A has recently been honored with a number of other customer service oriented awards and recognitions. In the October 2004 edition of QSR magazine, Chick-fil-A was recognized for the third consecutive year as having the "Best Drive-Thru in America." Additionally, as published in the October issue of Fast Company business magazine, Chick-fil-A received one of the publication's inaugural "Customers First Awards." Chick-fil-A was also recognized in September by J.D. Power and Associates as part of its 2004 Restaurant Satisfaction Study(SM), in which the chain's overall satisfaction index received the highest ranking in the South by receiving top ratings in two of the four categories: meal and service.
