McCain Latin Latitudes Introduces Bold & Unique Empanadas

Lisle, IL – McCain Foods USA announces the latest cuisine destination of its new McCain Latin Latitudes brand – the South American empanada.

Having first introduced a line of sweet, zesty Caribbean foods in Spring 2005, McCain Latin Latitudes™ presents two new delicious empanadas: Argentine Style Beef & Onion and Chorizo, Potato & Cheese. Featuring flavors inspired by local traditions and ingredients from authentic South American cuisine, the empanada's bold taste and versatile serving size make it ideal for a wide array of menu applications – from appetizers to sides to small plates.

The Argentine Style Beef & Onion Empanadas start with savory ground beef crumbles and sautéed onions, then lightly seasoned with garlic and cumin, and folded in a light pastry dough. The Chorizo, Potato & Cheese Empanada offer crumbles of mildly spicy chorizo sausage, diced potatoes, and shreds of Monterey Jack cheese, finished with a touch of seasoned cheese sauce and folded in a light pastry dough.

Dedicated to delivering ethnic flavors from authentic traditions found around Latin America, McCain's Latin Latitudes brand is a cuisine-based approach to providing on-trend and in-demand foods. "Bold Latin flavors are tempting Americans across the country with a taste being celebrated in more places, by more people every day," says Bob Webster, Director of Business Development, McCain Snack Foods Division. "McCain Latin Latitudes gives operators the confidence to serve these great ethnic tastes by making it easy to menu Latin food."
