Horizon Software Food Service Technology Selected By San Francisco Unified School District
Atlanta, GA - Horizon Software International, LLC, a global leader in software, services and technologies for food service operations, announces that it has been selected as the food service technology provider for the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD). SFUSD educates approximately 55,000 of San Francisco's preschool, elementary, middle and high school students at 153 school sites. The District solicited proposals from the top technology providers in the K-12 food service technology industry and awarded the contract to Horizon Software International, LLC based upon a number of criteria including its state-of-the-art technology, excellent customer service, complete offering, corporate stability, and experience in the K-12 market.
"We are excited to be selected by SFUSD," said Michael Williamson, President of Horizon Software. "Horizon puts tremendous emphasis on innovation and in developing state-of-the-art high-quality products and services. It is very rewarding and an honor for Horizon to be selected as the technology provider for SFUSD."
Horizon Software offers comprehensive food service solutions ranging from Point of Service (POS) to back of the house management systems including inventory management, procurement, menu planning, nutrition analysis, warehouse distribution and more. Their product offering provides clients with fully customizable and scalable software solutions able to meet the needs and budget of any food service operation.
SFUSD will be implementing Horizon's premiere OneSource solution which includes Point of Service and MealpayPlus online payment system, as well as its back of the house systems for inventory and procurement. Los Angeles Unified School District, the largest school district in California and second largest in the U.S., selected Horizon's OneSource last year and is currently implementing the solution.
The Point of Sale System is expected to increase participation because students will be able to move through the serving lines more quickly. Parents will also benefit by being able to access students accounts via the phone or internet. The system will decrease the administrative workload of cafeteria staff allowing them more time for meal preparation, student interaction and maintaining an enjoyable eating environment for students and staff. The back of the house systems will improve the efficiencies of its operations. Efficiencies are expected to be realized through more accurate bank deposits, reduction of food costs and enhanced revenues/reimbursements.
