Durum wheat midds are a by-product of the milling process of durum wheat
Durum wheat midds are a by-product of the milling process of durum wheat. The milling process separates the endosperm (primarily carbohydrates and what goes into pasta) from the bran.

The durum wheat midds produced at Dakota Growers Pasta Company are a high protein feed source for livestock and pet food. We pelletize all of the wheat midds produced at the cooperative to create a more palatable feed source that is easier to handle.

North Dakota State University Research Extension Center at Carrington, North Dakota has conducted several feeding trials with beef cattle and bison. Durum wheat midds have proven to be an excellent protein source for winter cows, backgrounding or finishing calves, or feeding bison.
