Dean Foods Completes California Acquisition

Alta-Dena, based in City of Industry, CA, processes and sells an annual $200 million in fluid milk, ice cream and other dairy products with distribution throughout Southern California.

Alta-Dena brings will add a strong brand name, product quality and diverse distribution system, to Dean Foods' Berkeley Farms brand in Northern California and Dean's four private label fluid milk plants in California.

According to Howard Dean, chairman and CEO of the eponymous food and dairy parent, the acquisition "is another key step in Dean's strategy to become one of the leading dairy processors in California with the capability to better serve a consolidating retail customer base."

Dean Foods, based in Franklin Park, IL, is one of the largest U.S. dairy processors and distributors of Dean, regional, and private-label brands.
