New packaging from leading foodservice industry manufacturer Custom Food Products, Inc. took first-place honors in the 30th annual Mobius Awards presentations held February 8, 2001 in Chicago. The prestigious Mobius Award is the worldwide advertising community's equivalent to Hollywood's Oscar. It signifies outstanding creative efforts in television, radio, print and package design. This year's competition was the largest in the history of the event, with over 6000 entries from 31 countries.

Winning a Mobius statuette in the category of package design were several entries for Gold Label Food Bases, Custom Food's flagship product line. The packaging graphics were created for Custom by Salzman Design, Ltd. of Long Grove, IL. According to Brian Griffith, Custom vice president of marketing, the design objective was to make a differentiating brand statement. "Among culinary professionals, Gold Label Food Bases are recognized for freshness and premium-quality natural ingredients. We wanted our new package to project those attributes visually. Evidently the Mobius judges feel we got it right" Prominent in the package design is a color illustration of the primary flavor ingredient, such as chicken or fish or vegetable. This feature was suggested by chefs to help overcome language barriers in foodservice kitchens.

In addition to Gold Label Bases, Custom Food Products, Inc. also markets a broad line of sauces, gravies, mixes and specialty ingredients, and is North America's largest private label food base producer.
