Applebee's International, Inc. Selects ServSafe Alcohol For Solutions

ServSafe Alcohol enhances training for Applebee's employees

ServSafe Alcohol has partnered with Applebee's International, Inc. to bring responsible alcohol service training to Applebee's employees. ServSafe Alcohol was created by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF) and is the industry's most comprehensive and practical approach to responsible alcohol service.

"The National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation's ServSafe Alcohol team worked with Applebee's International to create training materials specifically for Applebee's employees," said NRAEF President and COO Mary Adolf. "This solution is a way for Applebee's to reach their employees directly with a message that reinforces and emphasizes the importance of responsible alcohol service at all their locations."

Applebee's employees enrolled in the ServSafe Alcohol training program will receive a training book, with a message from Applebee's International highlighting the company's position on responsible alcohol service, and the importance of being a great neighbor, delivering great food and service, and helping others.

"We are very excited about the partnership between Applebee's International and NRAEF," said Wayne Vandewater, Applebee's executive director of field training. "We evaluated several programs and we are very pleased with the quality of the content and support materials included with the ServSafe Alcohol program. Our customized version helps us reinforce not only the technical aspects of responsible alcohol service, but also Applebee's position on why it is important. Responsible alcohol service is about helping our guests make good choices and providing an enjoyable dining experience for all guests, those who drink alcoholic beverages and those who do not."

The ServSafe Alcohol program was scientifically developed with input from experts in the foodservice, regulatory, legal, academic, medical and insurance fields. Together with the NRAEF, these experts determined and confirmed the tasks that the front-of-the-house needs to know in order to serve alcohol responsibly. The result is practical and comprehensive content that provides critical knowledge on alcohol law, recognizing and preventing intoxication, checking identification and dealing with difficult situations.
