This steel coating for carbon and stainless steels has proven effective in suppressing the growth of more than 650 species of microbes.
This steel coating for carbon and stainless steels has proven effective in suppressing the growth of more than 650 species of microbes. Among many potential applications for the antimicrobial-coated steels are cookware, serving and processing equipment, food and beverage dispensers and cutlery. The coating will not wash off or lose its antimicrobial effectiveness under contact or abrasion. The HealthShield compound remains effective at temperatures up to 1,472ºF and pH values between 3 and 10.
The coating contains silver zeolite that is long lasting and extremely durable. With zeolite incorporated into the company's flat-rolled steel, encapsulated silver ions act as an ion pump providing the controlled time-release of silver ions in the environment. This ion exchange inhibits microbiological activity on the surface of the product.
