The Smart Cookie LLC was established in 1996 and produces a cookie which is an exclusively patented design (US Patent # 412,770). This unique new product is a crunchy, little, cinnamon-flavored dessert cookie that resembles a bite-sized taco. Each cookie is individually wrapped and packaged with one of approx.. 1000 different bilingual Dichos or "sayings" inside.

The messages are printed on a small paper slip, with English on one side and Spanish translation on the other. While the Dichos can be humorous, philosophical or practical… all are designed to be creative, fun, educational, and promotional tools for learning a new language … "one bite at a time!"

Although most cookies are sold to Mexican restaurants that want to offer additional value to their customers, Dichos are also well received by schools. Many school teachers use Dichos as learning incentives or "treats". Some innovative teachers, who use Dichos in their classroom, have challenged their students to "come up with" new sayings as a class project. In addition to the classroom, some schools are using Dichos in the school cafeteria on the days that Mexican food is served.
