Agion Technologies Continues Success In Food Service Industry

Wakefield, MA - Agion Technologies Inc., the provider of silver-based antimicrobial solutions, recently announced that the company continues to see an upsurge in business in the food service industry. Through its partnership with Scotsman Ice Systems and Everpure, Agion's natural, silver-based antimicrobial technology is featured in ice systems now being used in a variety of restaurants nationwide, including in over 50% of one of the world's leading fast food chains.

"We have partnered with the leading companies in the food service industry to deliver our natural antimicrobial solutions that have been proven effective to reduce the growth of microbes," stated Ginger Merritt, Vice President of Worldwide Sales & Marketing at Agion Technologies. "The fact that one of the world's largest fast food chains is embracing our technology continues to validate the need for natural, antimicrobial solutions."

Agion's antimicrobial technology has been incorporated into Scotman's ice machines as well as into the SSM series of water filters from Everpure, which are installed prior to the ice machine. Scotsman's Prodigy ice machine features innovative technology that allows the ice machine to stay cleaner longer. This allows for lower maintenance and cleaning costs and ultimately a machine that lasts longer.

"Leading food service companies are always looking for ways to enhance and better the experience of patrons in their restaurants while fulfilling consumer demand and keeping costs low," stated Jeff Biel, Product Manager, Scotsman Ice Systems. "By installing our ice machines with Agion's natural, antimicrobial technology, food service establishments are reducing costs due to increased life of the ice machines and succeeding to satisfy the consumer demand for cleanliness, all while improving the taste and purity of water and ice due to Everpure's superior filter technology."

Agion antimicrobials are registered with the EPA for use in food processing facilities and approved by the EPA and FDA for food contact surfaces. The antimicrobials are also EFSA-registered and approved under the European Biocidal Products Directive (BPD). Agion's antimicrobial is included on the USDA list of non-food compounds for food processing plants, as maintained by NSF. The Agion products have NSF 51 Certification for food processing and food service equipment as well as NSF Standard 42 approval for the incorporation of the technology into carbon block water filter systems.

"Clean water is extremely important and a growing concern in the food service industry," stated Peter Gorr, Director of Marketing, Everpure. "Our partnerships with Agion and Scotsman allow us to deliver products that produce great water for great ice."
