SUBWAY Restaurants Of Canada Named Official Training Restaurant Of The CHL

Quick service restaurant also title sponsor of the CHL's SUBWAY Super Series

Toronto - Recently, SUBWAY Restaurants of Canada and the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) announced the renewal of their partnership with the naming of the quick service restaurant as the official training restaurant of the CHL, Ontario Hockey League (OHL), Western Hockey League (WHL) and Québec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL).

"We're excited to continue our partnership with the CHL through the designation as the League's official training restaurant. It speaks to our core values of promoting a balanced healthy active lifestyle for the entire family," said Kathleen Bell, Director of Marketing for SUBWAY Restaurants in Canada. "Hockey is our nation's sport and we, along with the CHL, are committed to involving thousands of young aspiring athletes across the country in sports activity."

With the partnership, SUBWAY Canada is a sponsor of the Home Hardware CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game 2013 in Halifax, 2013 MasterCard Memorial Cup in Saskatoon and the CHL Player Awards with the SUBWAY CHL Top Scholastic Player of the Year which is awarded annually to the CHL player who is best able to combine success on the ice with success in school.

The most significant aspect is SUBWAY Canada's title sponsorship of the annual SUBWAY Super Series which takes place each fall. The SUBWAY Super Series brings together all-star teams of players from the OHL, WHL and QMJHL to play against an all-star team from Russia. This year's Super Series is a special one as we arrive at the 40th anniversary of hockey's greatest rivalry - Team Canada vs. Team Russia.

"Despite the unknown status of professional hockey's 2012 season, the game is still being played across the country by our major junior players and we're happy to be involved in the communities where we work and play," said Bell.

"The CHL is proud to have SUBWAY Canada as our official training restaurant and title sponsor of the Super Series. Their values of promoting a balanced healthy active lifestyle align with our commitment developing young hockey talent in the best way," said Cole Butterworth, Director of Events & Marketing, Canadian Hockey League. "We look forward to continuing our partnership with SUBWAY and our growing relationship."

This year, the SUBWAY Super Series visits six Canadian cities, including Blainville/Boisbriand, QC (Nov. 5), Val d'Or, QC (Nov. 7), Guelph, ON (Nov. 8), Sarnia, ON (Nov. 12), Vancouver, BC (Nov. 14), and Victoria, BC (Nov. 15).
